Fairtrade

Fairtrade (verified by WFTO) are products with a clear conscience and social responsibility. Most of us are familiar with Max Havelaar chocolate and coffee, which appeared in our stores in the mid-1980s. The aim was to ensure that Central American farmers received a fair payment for their products. And in some areas, this could replace traditional foreign aid.

In yarn and basket making, the aim is to ensure a stable income for women in particular. This secures their families and allows their children to go to school. This prevents families from being forced to take jobs in the big cities, but can stay in the villages and live by cultivating the land and looking after the animals.
