The rustic look of the yarncomes from the fact that the individual hairs are not combed and sorted out as vigorously as with worsted yarn until almost all the fibers are parallel. This results in small loops that criss-cross slightly and create a beautiful volume. You get more out of the raw material with carded yarn than you do with worsted yarn. Semilla Melange has what it takes to convince many knitters that the more rustic yarn really has something to offer.

NOTE: The yarn is carded and can therefore easily felt. It is therefore important not to rub or expose the yarn to large temperature fluctuations between soapy water and rinse water. If you are using a pattern that requires felting, Semilla Melange is also an excellent yarn and will typically be machine washed.
