Laneras was started by a creative American couple. The idea was to combine her (Nikki) passion for yarn, but his (Jay) passion for color. The wool is sourced from wool producers in Uruguay. This is where Jay grew up and has good experience of the sheep's conditions. The wool is GOTS certified and thus produced with great consideration for animals and the environment.
The couple has developed a yarn that is strong without the use of synthetic fibers. The effect is achieved by a special spinning technique, which also gives the yarn a nice color twist.
Laneras Barefoot yarn is made from wool from the Polwarth sheep breed. It is a sheep whose wool is very similar to that of the merino sheep, but is more hardy when it comes to grazing. At the same time, the sheep provides both wool and meat for the sheep farmer.
